At first it is important, and he reminds it to us, to explain what is UX Design ? As Don Norman said, one of the first UX Designers, "UX Design if the fact of encompassing all aspects of the end user's interactions with the company, its products and its services". It refers to a person's emotions and attitudes about using a particular product, system or service.
The article shows us the weight of UX Design in companies by proving it with the examples of Google, Apple and Amazon for example. All three huge successful companies that have used, and still use today user experience in all there development processes. For Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the founders of Google, one of their core motto is "Focus on the user and all else will follow" which basically is one the aspects of UX Design.
Now you wonder, but is it really efficient ? Well, Rose shows us with graphs and numbers very easily, that UX Design reduces the development time, it makes it also easier, and because it is customer oriented it increases the customer satisfaction. It has been proven that UX Design reduces the development time by 33 to 50%. Not only it makes the work quicker and easier, it also helps companies gain market shares and have better financial results because of it's efficiency.
As the article shows us also, the weight that UX has in companies nowadays is growing fastly because of the multiple new jobs it creates, like "Usability Analyst" or "User Researcher" for example. This fact proves us that UX is something companies want to invest into and has a bright future.
Finally, Anton Rose explains us the difference between User Experience and User Interface. Those two concepts are different but very close and work together. When UX is about interaction design, UI is about visual design, when UX is about interaction between a product or service UI is about the product only. In conlusion, UI without UX is basic, and UX without UI can't exist, that's why they have to be combined.
We both thought that the User Experience topic is really interesting, thanks to its past and regarding the great brains that used it before anyone else, like Steve Jobs, but also the importance it has today. This really showed us that in the Digital field things are evolving really fast and that UX Design had, have and will have an important role to play in Digital Business Strategies.
