A flaw in Facebook lets anyone create as many fake 'Likes' as they want without using a bot army

Facebook is free. Well, Facebook does not cost any money to let users access to it. Our way to pay the service is to allow the big blue eyes to watch and record each of our little moves on the platform. Those records are a golden mine for Facebook which leverages it by offering unique targeting marketing to company. The viability of the Facebook business model has been demonstrated over the years. However, other people has understand how important like generation is important for brands or website to get strong visibility.

As flagged in the Business Insider article “A flaw in Facebook lets anyone create as many fake 'Likes' as they want without using a bot army”, it exists numerous tricks to generate fake likes. And Facebook is struggling on avoiding it. It has developed some machine learning algorithms to shape model of suspicious behaviors in order to flag fake likes. Unfortunately, new tricks are constantly been invented and the Silicon Valley’s engineers always have to find new ways to detect it.

This problem is very seriously taken into account by the company because it takes away its credibility to his client. In deed, to sale advertisement visibility Facebook strongly relies on its capacity to build sharp user's segments based on their interests, traduced by likes. Therefore, if this very accurate segmentation is using fake likes Facebook’s clients will not be agree to be charge as much as they currently do.

Fake Facebook likes generation is not an isolated case for those kind of company with similar Business model, there are also fake Instagram likes, fake retweets and so on. Just as anti-doping is a race for sports industry players, anti-faking engagement is a race for social networks industry
